Connect with an 校友 Mentor
The Boston College MentorMatch Program allows current students to connect with an alumni mentor who will help them prepare to enter their 职业生涯 field of interest. MentorMatch provides every junior the opportunity to be matched with a mentor (open to seniors and graduate students if space permits). 使用 Eagle Exchange, the Career Center will match students with Boston College alumni who will serve as mentors for the remainder of the 2023-24 academic year.

The Boston College MentorMatch Program is an opportunity for every junior (open to seniors/graduate students if space permits) to connect with an alumni mentor who will help them prepare to enter their 职业生涯 field of interest.
Suggested topics of discussion include:
- The 技能 necessary in their industries of interest
- How to effectively present experiences, 技能, 利益, 和价值观 in written materials (e.g. resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles) and verbally (e.g. interviewing 技能)
- Exploring identity in the workplace
This program provides an opportunity for students to:
- Develop confidence in communicating with alumni and professionals
- Verbally articulate how their experiences, 技能, 利益, 和价值观 relate to opportunities through networking conversations and/or interviews
- Connect the 技能, 利益, 和价值观 they are gaining at Boston College to specific 职业生涯 opportunities of interest
- Gain an understanding of current trends and hiring practices in their field of interest
- Create a plan to develop 技能 and competencies required for a particular field of interest
- Create application materials such as resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and personal statements that articulate their experiences, 技能, 利益, 和价值观

Frequently Asked Questions
We ask you to meet at least once per/month but encourage you to meet as often as is appropriate.
Communication may be in person, 通过电话, 电子邮件, 视频聊天, text or instant message, or other form of communication medium. This will be determined by the parties involved. Examples can include Zoom, 谷歌满足, Microsoft Teams, Skype, 进行交流, 短信, 和WhatsApp.
That largely depends on the relationship but most meetings typically last about an hour.
If either party is having trouble scheduling a first appointment or if the match isn’t working out, please reach out to the Career Center at 职业生涯.center@volamdolong.com for guidance and tips.
Please use your discretion but we encourage you to have a conversation together about how and if your match should share any and all confidential information.
We are asking students and alumni mentors to commit for the duration of the program. If a situation arises w在这里 you may have to remove yourself from the program, please contact the Career Center at 职业生涯.center@volamdolong.com.
- Matches are made in early September based on 职业生涯 利益 and/or identity.
- Every match is reviewed by our staff to ensure they would be a good fit according to the information available. Email confirmation is then sent to email to both parties, introducing them and providing additional information and instructions for the program.
Absolutely and we encourage it! But please make sure it works for both parties.
Program participants will find important and helpful documents as well as a discussion forum on Eagle Exchange and instructions on accessing these resources will be given via email when you are matched.

校友 mentors can enhance their own people development and leadership 技能 while also being a positive influence for a student just starting their 职业生涯 journey. 校友 mentors may also gain knowledge and 技能 from the students, who may have new information or technology that they can share.

While the main purpose of a mentoring program is to assist with the student’s specific 职业生涯 goal(s), successful mentoring programs are a two-way developmental experience. 校友 mentors can and should experience it as an enriching relationship and can use the program to work on their own professional development and competencies.
MentorMatch is intentionally designed to operate on a 1-to-1 match ratio but group mentoring is allowed.
During your first meeting it is important to establish mutually agreed upon boundaries for the program. But in the (hopefully) rare circumstance a mentee issue or problem arises outside your comfort level and/or expertise, please let your mentee know. If the matter goes well beyond that and needs additional assistance, please contact the Career Center at 职业生涯.center@volamdolong.com.
